It could work if you have regional divisions.
That's why I said Texas would create a Division of 5 to have the regional feel like a smaller conference. Then you would rotate the other divisions.
You would actually play everyone else more often than we have today with 2 divisions of 7 playing 8 games. Seems odd, but the scheduling rotates more frequently at 16 or 20.
At 20, we would have to also have divisions in other sports like basketball.
If the ACC were to just go to 16, an eastern team like WVU, UConn, Navy, or Cincinnati makes more sense. A school out in Texas joining alone makes for too much of a flyover for every contest. There has to be some regional element to it to make it work. That's why 20.
I know that the Big Ten says they don't want Iowa State. Then enough already about AAU snobbery coming from that bunch. Iowa State is as much AAU as any of them are. The SEC could substitute Baylor for Texas Tech. Texas A&M would have to make that call anyway. Kansas State is the best football school in its state. The SEC is all about football.
